Visual design

We have downloaded the three images, then made the amount of pixels similar (150). After that we put the images together in one picture. We added a canvas and put .25 inch on every side of the images, and made the background pink. We added the drop shadows on all three pictures. The combination of the images was finished, and we transported it to JPEG.

We started by thinking about the theme of the photo. I immediately thought of a forest in the fall, because it is colorful and there are many different animals in a forest. I have selected each animal from its own image, which I found on the internet. I made this selection in different ways, with the lasso tool, the magnetic lasso, and the ellipse shape I applied to the pumpkins. I removed all edges and irregularities for each photo, and then I copied layer masks to the original background. Then I made sure that the pictures did not overlap, for example the squirrel in front of the pumpkins.

We had to use the same elements in the second picture, but put them in a different composition. After moving the parts, I thought it almost looked the same as the first picture, so I added a lightning bolt.

Composition 2

I started with the background; I selected the sky in the photo of the beach with the magic wand tool. Then I reversed the selection with the inverter so that I could remove the sky from the beach photo. I added the sky and made sure it was underneath the first layer. Then I opened the girl with the parasol in a separate tab, there I selected her with the quick selection tool and made all edges smoother. I added her to the other photo, and the picture was almost ready. The sun is shining brightly on the image, so with the dodge tool, I have made the beach and the houses a bit lighter.

After adding the photos, I selected the hat with the quick selection tool and placed it on the head of the donkey; the layer mask ensured that I could improve all inaccurate edges with the lasso tool. Then I painted the ears through the hat with the painting brush.

Retouching and Enhancing Photo’s

The following photos have been improved in quality by removing irregularities. In the pictures below, the left photo is the original photo, and the right photo is the edited one. In the left photo, there was a line on the left, which I removed using the spot healing brush tool and healing brush tool.

In this photo, I first selected the sweater with the magic wand tool, and then I added a layer mask. With the help of the layer masks tool, I made the edges smoother. I filled in the foreground with pink, making the sweater pink. Then I made the color a little less bright pink by adding a filter.

There were three weird white dots in this photo, which I have eliminated with the spot healing brush tool and healing brush tool. Besides, I filled the yellow border with a blue background in the top right corner.

In the photo with the flowers, I first selected the part above the window, and with a layer mask, the color changes to yellow. After that, I made the flowers a bit lighter with the whitening brush.

In this photo, I multiplied the photo and flattened it six times, so that the unclear lines on the picture were a bit clearer. Then I added a black and white filter over it so that the contrast became even more evident. With the spot healing brush, I have eliminated some irregularities. I selected the jacket with the lasso tool and then made it green with a layer mask.

Social Awareness Poster

This project was about social awareness; I chose to do it about suicide. The picture below is a combination of two images. The bridge and the sky. I put the air as the background and used the brightening and dark brush to make one side dark and the other side sunnier and happier. After that, I searched on the internet people who I could add to the picture. I have selected them with the lasso tool and placed them in the image. I made sure they were behind the bridge so that it wouldn’t look fake. I have put the groups on the right side and the lonely persons on the left. I did this because the person in the middle would be intimidated and felt even more isolated. After adding the additional persons, I have brightened the person in the middle with the brightening tool to put him more in the spotlight. Also, I put his head behind him as a sort of shadow. The image was made, and I added the telephone number and the quote.

The pencil

Our first assignment on adobe illustrator was to make a pencil. With the rectangle tool, I first made four rectangles with different dimensions. Then I rounded the corners. With the Add Anchor Point tool, I made the serrated edge of the pencil. Then I chose the colors and used a gradient tool to make the silver piece near the eraser a little better in terms of gradient. Finally, I wrote my name with the paintbrush tool.

The elephant

I colored this elephant on adobe illustrator. I did this using the paintbrush tool. I chose to turn it into a blue elephant. I have paid particular attention to the ears, so you see that they change from dark blue to pink, purple, and again to dark blue. I did this with the gradient tool, and then I added multiple colors. In the end, I made all the squares and filled them with the colors I used.

Plagiarism is copying someone else’s work without referring to them. We can avoid plagiarism by simply not using others’ work at all or mentioning the author and source. When we use someone else’s information, quote, or sentence, we have to hyperlink the article.

Nowadays, plagiarism is a big problem because we can easily copy information from the internet. As earlier mentioned, we are allowed to replicate if we cite it excellently and refer to the author. Plagiarism is stupid to do because firstly, you are stealing someone else’s work and pretend that you made it yourself. This is lying, and they will probably find out at a certain point. They will let you redo the assignment, let you do extra tasks, or even abandon from the university. There is a big difference between the consequences. But plagiarism is more effort than you had to do in the first place. Sometimes plagiarism can have an impact on your future; when you are abandoned from university, you will have to find a new university, or a job will become hard without a degree.

In conclusion, be aware of citing your sources in the right way. They will discover it anyway, so why would you try to lie?

The boxes

We started making a grid of seven by seven boxes. This gave us a total of 49 boxes; we made sure the space in between the boxes was always 12 points. We filled the boxes with different shapes and colors by using the shape tool and the pen tool. I decided to use a color pallet with green and purple. So I colored all my boxes with different shades of those colors. After I was done with those 49 boxes, we copied all of them and grouped them. We copied the big box, including the 49 boxes, and twisted the box vertically and horizontally. The pattern was appearing four times in the picture now.

The pear

For this assignment, we had to make a pear ourselves using adobe illustrator. I used the pen tool to create the outlining of the pear. After that, I made the leaves in the same way. I colored the pear and the leaves with the color gradient. I have picked the red and green color and selected the pear. For the leaves, I chose two different kinds of green and created the color with the gradient as well.

Personal logo

I started with inspiring myself with logos by doing some research on the internet. I concluded that a logo has to be a simple shape with only a few colors, but the essential part is not to make it look complicated. The logo we created was a personal logo; I wanted to use my initials. My initials are E and V; I started sketching the letters and put them in different ways. When I created this logo, I used the pen tool to create precisely paths and made sure the angles were the same in the logo. I colored it with the gradient tool and changed the angle of the gradient to -10; this resulted in the same angle as the V.

After creating my personal logo, I made a business card. I started by writing the information I wanted to have on the card. Then I made the curve with the curvature tool, then I connected lines to it and grouped them; this allowed me to fill the shape in. I chose to use the same color blue, to keep it simple and match it with the logo. I used italic letters for all the information except my name.

I created this letterhead, and used the same blue shape and put it on the bottom of the paper.

An infographic is a poster with a combination of information and graphics. It can be about anything like recipes, statics, or facts. I chose to do my infographic about raspberry ice cream because I always cook it myself. I started by looking up the recipe and the ingredients, so that I knew how much information I had to put in the poster. I divided the steps into three, blending, mixing, and freezing. After the organization of the information, I started with the poster. I wanted to put the colors of the ice cream in the background, so I colored it pink and a darker shade of pink. Then I used the paintbrush tool to make the edges of the rectangular more ice cream like and created the numbers one, two, and three. After creating the background, I copied cartoon images of the ingredients and used the pen tool to make the shapes myself. This allowed me to give the pictures my touch, different colors, and simplify them. A helpful tip to create the same shapes in illustrator is to set up different layers so that you won’t touch the original. I used the gradient tool for the vanilla flower and twigs. I put every ingredient in the right order and wrote the amount of each component with the text tool near the illustrations. I wrote the three terms, blend it, mix it, and freeze it. I made them more prominent, so they would pop more out of the screen, and it would get more attention. At the very end, I added the arrows; I created them myself by using the paintbrush tool using the oval preference, to give it a smoother effect.
